Based on the comic book "Here" by Richard McGuire

Chronology

A generational story about families and the special place they live in, sharing love, loss, laughter and life. It was first published as a strip in the comics magazine Raw in 1989 and was expanded into a 300-page graphic novel in 2014. Richard's father, at one point early in the film, mentions the names of several towns that he claims are along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, when in fact they are towns along Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania, which at the time had not yet been built. [from the trailer] Richard: You know, if you want, you can spend the rest of the night here.

However, after “The Walk,” his works were underwhelming and disappointing to say the least

In the past, Zemeckis has created classic works such as Forrest Gump, Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, The Polar Express, and many other great works that I grew up with. This movie has a really ambitious and intriguing concept, but unfortunately, despite some solid and interesting moments, Zemeckis fails to experiment with the concept properly and it ends up being boring and disappointing. The concept of the camera staying in one place and the narrative seems ambitious and creative. With themes that are interesting and could be innovative to explore, but Zemeckis’ direction and the film’s lack of emotional depth spoil what could have been a good movie.

Delivered with some difficult dialogue and pacing issues

Filled with bloated plots, unbalanced structures, and characters that aren’t fully developed, the emotional weight and involvement becomes more tedious. Almost as if Zemeckis had seen The Tree of Life but somehow didn’t understand what made The Tree of Life amazing and made it more mediocre and boring. The production design and camera work are really good, along with the use of CGI for face swapping, which is pretty solid with colors and movements. All the performances are good and it’s nice to see Tom Hanks and Robin Wright together again as they have good chemistry and good scenes together.

Robert Zemeckis will always be one of my favorite directors

But it didn’t work out due to a sloppy and clumsy approach that doesn’t really do it justice. I grew up as a kid, but unfortunately his best years are long, long behind him. From ‘Alien: Romulus’ to ‘The Bouncer,’ take a look at some of our favorite posters of 2024.
